The University-Rosedale candidates
Danielle Martin
Danielle Martin joined the Liberal Party on Jan. 31. She was announced as a candidate for the University-Rosedale riding in January 2026.
The majority of her experience resides within the healthcare system. She previously served as the Executive Vice-President at Women’s College Hospital and also led the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.
In a press release announcing her candidacy, she said she hopes to protect community programs and empower Canadians through affordable living options.
Don Hodgson
Don Hodgson is a real estate broker in Mississauga, Ont. Throughout his time in the mortgage industry, said he believes in affordability and lower taxes.
He has the same political motivations and platform as Conservative Leader Pierre Poillievre.
Serena Purdy
Serena Purdy is known for her academic work within the health systems at the University of Toronto and for her time as an organizer for Friends of Kensington. The collective acts as a way to engage with members of the community through grassroots efforts.
Purdy is known for her work with Friends of Kensington, in which her work helped Toronto establish laws for short-term rentals. She hopes to protect the public healthcare systems, end the housing crisis, and support small businesses.
Andrew Massey
Andrew Massey graduated from the University of Toronto before working in Japan as a teacher. After returning in 2015, he now works as a technical writer for public infrastructure projects.
Massey wants to tackle youth unemployment, high living costs, and low voter turnout.
The Scarborough Southwest candidates
Doly Begum
Doly Begum is the Liberal candidate for Scarborough Southwest. She is running for the seat recently held by Bill Blair.
Before this election, she was the Ontario Deputy New Democratic Party Leader before shocking party members with her defection. During her time with the NDP, she was also a provincial NDP MPP in the same area from 2018 to 2026.
Originally from Bangladesh, Begum came to Canada with her family when she was 11.
Diana Filipova
Diana Filipova is the Conservative Party of Canada candidate in Scarborough Southwest.
In the previous election, Filipova ran as the CPC candidate in Spadina-Harbourfront for the 2025 federal election.
Before entering politics, she taught seventh grade at Donview Middle Health and Wellness Academy.
Fatima Shaban
Fatima Shaban is the NDP candidate in Scarborough Southwest.
In the last election, Shaban received 2,730 votes for five per cent of the vote.
Originally from Slovakia, Shaban immigrated to Canada with her mother in 2008 at the age of 14.
Pooja Malhotra
Pooja Malhotra represents the Green Party of Canada in the riding. The 33-year-old was chosen as the Shadow Cabinet Critic for Immigration and Refugees on Jan. 19.
Before taking on this role, she helped organize different groups such as Toronto World Beyond War, Palestinian Youth Movement, and the Scarborough Southwest chapter of the 4Palestine riding groups.
Malhotra holds degrees in Fashion Design and Costume Design for Performance in India and the U.K., where she later taught as a senior lecturer. Once she concluded her era as a student and teacher, she immigrated to Canada in 2019.
The Terrebonne Candidates
Tatiana Auguste
Tatiana Auguste is the Liberal Party of Canada representative for Terrebonne, Que.
Auguste first entered federal politics at 24 to run in the 2025 federal election, which she won.
Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Auguste studied economics at Concordia University in Montreal, Que.
Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné
Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné is the Bloc Québécois candidate for Terrebonne, Que. Sinclair-Desgagné, 28, first entered politics in the 2021 federal election and was one of 50 first-time MPs who were elected.
She holds a degree in economics from McGill University as well as a master's degree in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford.
Before entering politics, Sinclair-Desgagné served as a senior economic advisor to the general management of the City of Montreal from 2020 to 2021.
Adrienne Charles
Adrienne Charles is the representative of the Conservative Party of Canada within the southern Quebec riding. Charles ran for the Tories in the previous byelection, where she received 10,961 votes, accounting for 18.2 per cent of the vote.
She is a published author with two novels to her name and was also a science teacher at the Centre de services scolaire des Affluents in Lanaudière.
Maxime Beaudoin
Maxime Beaudoin is the representative of the New Democratic Party for the third time in the riding.
In addition to his role with the NDP, Beaudoin is also the representative for students in the technical sector at Maisonneuve College.
Previously, he also worked as a union adviser for the Alliance of professional and technical staff in health and social services in Quebec until 2017.
The volunteers for initiatives that serve the public, such as the library sector.
Benjamin Rankin
Benjamin Rankin is representing the Green Party within Terrebonne for a second time.
Rankin is an expert in energy-efficient design and is also passionate about sustainable development.
During his time with the Green Party, the Montreal, Que., native has defended the right to housing, health, and education for all residents within his riding. He has also primarily worked on health and education projects.
Rankin studied at McGill University and participated in a study abroad program called the Trent-in-Ghana program from 2007-08. During his time within the program, he spent 12 weeks working for Ghana's Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice and in a field office in Northern Ghana.
