Another MP has crossed the floor to the Liberals, leaving them one seat short of a majority government, four days ahead of three federal by-elections.
Marilyn Gladu, MP for Sarnia-Lambton-Bkejwanong, announced on the social media platform X on Wednesday morning that she is "proud to be the newest member of our new Liberal government."
Gladu, now an ex-Conservative, said in her letter to the House of Commons, addressing citizens in her riding, that this decision comes after she received several requests from her constituents for serious leadership and a real plan to build a stronger and more independent economy.
She has worked as an engineer for 21 years, as well as a consultant at WorleyParsons, before getting elected as MP for Sarnia-Lambton in 2015.
Gladu said she believes the experience she has gained from working globally will be crucial in assisting the Prime Minister as he continues to deliver on the big priorities.
This seat puts the Liberals at a total of 171 seats of the 172 needed for a majority.
Election day is Monday with voting hours between 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Scarborough Southwest and University-Rosedale in Toronto and Terrbonne in Quebec.
