At the end of regulation, Canada shut out Czechia 5-0 after a complete team effort.
Players like McDavid took his chance in pressuring them early on all ends of the ice, out shooting them by ten, 36-26.
This match went down as the first Olympic shutout for their goaltender Jordan Binnington.
12:52 p.m. - Nick Suzuki nets Canada's fifth
Captain of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens Nick Suzuki tipped the fifth goal for his squad, which was fed by McDavid and Harley.
This is McDavid's third and Harley's second assist of the game.
So far, three of the five goals have been scored by new additions to the Team Canada roster (Macklin Celebrini, Bo Horvat and Nick Suzuki).
12:42 p.m. - Nathan MacKinnon makes it 4-0 for Canada on the power play
Dominik Kubalik got charged with a minor penalty for interference allowing Canada to go on the power play.
From that, Nathan MacKinnon scored his first of the match from the left side of the goal post to bring his team up by four.
The goal, scored at 12:18 was assisted by McDavid and Crosby, who now have two assists in the match.
12:35 p.m. - Offensive struggles for Czechia
Czechia continues to struggle on their offence with not a single goal through the first five minutes of the third.
Canada takes a slim lead over their opponent in shots, 26-25.
12:15 p.m. - Third period to get underway shortly
Team Canada hopes to keep the momentum going into the last ten minutes after recording two goals in the second.
12:07 p.m. - Canada nets their third goal
Bo Horvat skated through Czechia's defenders to slot the puck through the five hole for his first goal with 2:34 left on the clock.
Brad Marchand and Thomas Harley assisted the play. This is the first assist of the game for both Marchand and Harley.
Team Canada now leads by three.
12:02 p.m. - Five minutes left in the second
With five minutes left in the first 20 minutes, Czechia has yet to net a goal past Binnington. Meanwhile Canada has gone up by two in that time, and has had many great chances since their last goal.
Czechia leads Canada in shots 21-19.
11:44 a.m. - Canada goes up by two
Mark Stone scores the second goal for Canada, with an assist by Mitch Marner and Sideny Crosby with 13:20 remaining.
Marner tricked the goaltender and slotted it over to Stone who avoided three Czechia defenders before slotting the goal.
Canada now leads 2-0 over Czechia.
11:35 a.m. - Second period underway
The second period has begun with Canada taking possession of the puck.
Physical play continues from Czechia as they fight for the equalizer.

Heading into the second Canada hopes to keep the momentum going and gain an even bigger advantage over their opponent.
11:16 a.m. - Canada makes it 1-0
Macklin Celebrini nets the first goal for Canada with 5.7 left on the clock.
Cale Makar and Connor McDavid recorded an assist on the play.
Celebrini is the youngest player on Team Canada's roster at 19 years old.
10:56 a.m. - Two minutes remaining
With two minutes remaining in the first, the score is still deadlocked at 0, even though Czechia has had some great chances.
Canada leads Czechia in shots 10-8.
10:56 a.m. - First chance for Canada disallowed
Forward Nick Suzuki created the first chance for Canada at 12:16.
That goal got disallowed, and Suzuki got charged with a minor penalty instead.
The penalty was ruled a tripping.
10:48 a.m. - Scoreboard remains empty
Both sides remain without a goal on the board, despite some intense back and forth play.
Canada leads Czechia in shots on goal 6-2 with 15 minutes remaining.

10:20 a.m. - How does the tournament work?
Twelve teams chasing Olympic gold are split up into three groups of four teams.
Team Canada is in Group A with Czechia, Switzerland and France.
Meanwhile the Italians will take on Sweden, Finland and Slovakia in Group B, and the United States will play alongside Latvia, Germany, and Denmark in Group C.
Every team will play games in the preliminary round consisting of three games. In this round a three point system will be used to determine the group standings (regulation win: three points, win in extra time: two points, extra time loss: one point).
Then the top four teams will get a free pass into the quarterfinal, and the other eight teams will play in do-or-die games in the qualification round.
After the qualification round teams will work to get into the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the bronze and gold medal games.
10 a.m. - 30 minutes until puck drop
After a hiatus of more than a decade, the best players from men’s hockey have returned to Olympic ice for the first time since the Sochi Olympics in 2014.
This means Canadians can finally witness household names from the National Hockey League (NHL) like Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon in the same threads.
The Canadians, led by their captain Sidney Crosby, will start their campaign against Czechia and their captain Raman Cervenka at 10:40 a.m. ET.
