Jessa Naranjo, 30, a second-year Bachelor of International Business student at Humber Polytechnic’s North campus, has been at the institution since 2014, moving through several programs and careers along the way.
Naranjo graduated from General Arts and Science in 2014, before pursuing practical nursing. She later switched paths, moving to Humber's 3D Animation and graduated in 2018.
Her animation education eventually opened doors to work for Nickelodeon, Disney Junior, Treehouse and Teletoon. Her experience also included working on shows such as Sesame Street, CBC Kids, and “Ollie: The Boy Who Became What He Ate.”
“No matter what field it is, you have to see yourself in a way where you are allowed to be in the room, and if you are in the room, it’s for a reason,” she said. “Don’t be afraid of the potential of rejection, because every no can lead to a yes.”
Naranjo said joining the Longo Faculty of Business encouraged her to explore opportunities outside of her coursework.
“With being a part of the Longo business, it really made me realize how lucky I am that I can try so many new things,” she said. “You don’t know who will influence you next, but those were some of my prized possessions of memories I hold in my academic career."
